The Adams Presidential Center recently hosted distinguished historians, Friederike Baer and Gordon S. Wood, for an insightful and fascinating discussion about Ken Burn’s THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a new six-part, 12-hour documentary series that explores the country’s founding struggle and its eight-year War for Independence. Friederike Baer and Gordon S. Wood are two of dozens of scholars and writers who appear in the film or advised the production.

The Adams Presidential Center in partnership with Quincy 400 recently hosted a compelling conversation on the evolution of national security—from the founding of the United States to the challenges we face today. Our distinguished speakers included General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., USMC (Ret.), Congressman Stephen F. Lynch, and business leader, Jonathan Hirtle.

The event explored the remarkable contributions of U.S. First Ladies, including Abigail Adams, Louisa Catherine Adams, and other influential women who played a pivotal role in shaping the evolving position of the First Lady. Attendees gained insight into how these women left their unique mark on the role, drawing from their backgrounds, interests, and relationships, all while navigating their husbands’ administrations. The discussion highlighted how their leadership, influence, and legacy continue to impact the presidency and the nation today.

The Adams Presidential Center’s inaugural Adams Speaker Series event, “John Adams: Passion for the Public Good & Civic Education,” featured a compelling panel of leading historians and civic leaders who delved into the principles driving John Adams’ lifelong commitment to public service and patriotism and his enduring legacy as a Founding Father. Their insights underscored the impact of Adams' ideals in shaping and sustaining democratic values today.

Philanthropists Karen and Rob Hale and the late Congressman Bill Delahunt were honored at the second annual Adams Presidential Center Gala in May 2024. At the gala, the City of Quincy unveiled a new John Quincy Adams statue by Russian-American sculptor Sergey Eylanbekov, which will be erected in Quincy Center to celebrate the City’s 400th anniversary.

Former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and First Lady Lauren Baker were honored at the first annual Adams Presidential Center Gala in April 2023. As General Joseph Dunford stated, “in the spirit of John and Abigail Adams, Charlie and Lauren represent the essence of the Adams Presidential Center, good citizens with a life-long devotion to our communities, our state, and our nation.”
